Absorbent creped cellulose. Absorbent creped Cellulose shall consist of fully bleached chemical pulp cellulose that will absorb at least 16 times its weight in water and will completely submerge in 15 seconds. Six plies of 11 pound basis weight cellulose or three plies of 25 pound basis weight cellulose (24 by 36, 500 sheets) is acceptable.
Absorbent macerated cellulosic pulp (fluff). Shall be absorbent, bleached macerated cellulosic pulp (fluff) having an absorbency time of less than 15 Seconds and shall absorb not less than 16 times its weight of water when tested in accordance with Absorbent Cotton, MY.
Nonabsorbent cotton (backing). Nonabsorbent cotton shall be bleached or unbleached and made from new or reworked cotton or cotton fibers that has been reworked from clean yarn, threads or fabric, or blend of these types. The mixture shall contain no more than 50% cotton linters.
Nonabsorbent nonwoven fabric. Shall be a layer of nonabsorbent fluorochemically treated nonwoven fabric.
Sizes of the unfolded nonsterile abdominal pad are approximate on the width measurement (4- or - 1/4 inch (0.635 cm )), and on the length measurement (4- or - ½ inch (1.27 cm)). Nonsterile abdominal pads are bulk packed in cases which is the unit of issue.
Size A - 7-1/2 inches wide x 8 inches long (19.05 cm wide x 20.32 cm long) - Case of 576.
Size B - 8 inches wide x 10 inches long (20.32 cm wide x 25.40 cm long) - Case of 432.
Size C - 10 inches wide x 12 inches long (25.40 cm wide X 30.48 cm long) - Case of 288.
Size D - 12 inches wide x 16 inches long (30.48 cm wide x 40.64 cm long) - Case of 144.
Workmanship. Abdominal pads shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Case (CS). One case containing the number of nonsterile abdominal pads stated in salient characteristics constitutes one unit.
