ADHESIVE TAPE, SURGICAL,
(1 INCH BY 10 YARDS PERFORATED)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics:
The adhesive tape shall be 1 inch wide by 10 yards long, evenly wound and shall be suitable for use for holding tubing, apparatus, catheters, electrodes and stethoscopes in place. The adhesive tape shall be a hypoallergenic surgical adhesive tape.
The adhesive tape shall be a lightweight plastic tape uniformly perforated to permit skin ventilation and easy handling. The backing material shall be clear, ethylene, vinyl acetate. The backing shall be coated on one side with a hypoallergenic, acrylic, pressure sensitive adhesive that holds firmly yet can be removed with minimal discomfort, even from hairy areas, with no adhesive residue. The adhesive tape shall be moderately transparent against the skin and shall unroll smoothly without curling.
The adhesive tape shall be x-ray transparent, stretchy and conformable and shall be easily torn uniformly by hand in both the length and width directions. The adhesive tape shall be suitable for use with ophthalmic dressings, dressings on bony prominences and other high stress areas.
