COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SUSPENSORY, SCROTAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-S-37181 which is cancelled.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a suspensory bandage suitable for use as a scrotal dressing or for the treatment of diseases of the scrotal area and shall support the scrotum. Suspensories shall be of the following sizes and types:

The size of the suspensory shall be determined by the size of the pouch. The pouch size shall be permanently marked on the yoke or waistband of each suspensory or the pouch size shall be permanently marked on a cloth tag sewn to the lower edge of yoke.
The suspensory shall consist of a yoke to which is securely sewn a soft knit or mesh pouch, an elastic waistband, and an accompanying rust-proof, non-slip, non-snag, safety type buckle allowing for proper adjustment. The pouch shall be constructed so that it remains in place around the scrotum during normal patient activity. Type 1 suspensory shall accomplish this by means of two elastic legstraps of appropriate length securely sewn to the pouch. Their buckles shall be rust-proof, non-slip, non-snap, safety type securely sewn to the yoke allowing for proper adjustment. Type 2 suspensory shall accomplish this with a piece of elastic tape traversing the top of the yoke.
